The 4 mail rules
- Never call a phone number printed on a letter that asks for money. Call the number on your own card or statement.
- Real companies and the government never ask for gift cards, wire transfers, Zelle or cash in the mail.
- "Past due", "Final notice" and "Act today" are the scammer's favorite words.
- When in doubt, put it on the counter and call your helper.
