Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
The short version: Photos of your mail are read on your phone. Only when it can't find a phone number is the picture sent to an AI reader, and we never keep it. We have no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell data. The only thing sent to us is a phone number found on a letter, so we can look it up, and we don't keep it.
1. Who we are

2. Camera and photos of your mail
MailMinder asks to use your camera only when you tap "Check a letter." The picture is first read on your own device by text-recognition software that runs in your browser.
If that software cannot find a phone number (for example, handwriting or very small print), the picture is sent once to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, so its AI can read the numbers and words. MailMinder does not store the picture or the text; Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms and privacy policy. Please avoid scanning pages that show bank account or Social Security numbers.
3. Phone numbers we look up
When a phone number is found on a letter, your device sends that number (and nothing else from the letter) to our server so it can be checked against FTC report data. We do not store the numbers you look up, and we do not link them to you. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and operation, under Netlify's privacy policy.
4. Information saved only on your device
If you enter a helper's name and phone number, choose a larger text size, or accept our notice, those choices are saved in your browser's local storage on your device only. We cannot see them. You can remove them anytime by clearing this site's data in your browser or uninstalling the app.
5. What we do not do
- No user accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information.
6. Other services the page loads
To work, the page loads files from these providers, which receive your device's IP address as part of any normal web request:
- Netlify hosts the website and the phone-number lookup.
- Anthropic reads pictures the on-phone reader could not (section 2).
- jsDelivr delivers the text-recognition software (Tesseract.js) and its language file.
- Google Fonts delivers the lettering used on the page.
7. Children
MailMinder is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Data security and deletion
Connections to MailMinder use HTTPS encryption. Because we do not keep your photos, letter text or lookups, there is no stored personal data for us to delete. Data on your device (section 4) can be erased by clearing the site's data or uninstalling.

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
